About Us

St. Fachtna’s Silver Band was founded in 1912. It has been an integral part of Skibbereen town for  100 years.  We have 26 committed and hardworking members. We are aged between  8 – 50+ and we are from all walks of life. Musically we range from professional musicians to beginners participating in Junior and Senior bands. A love of playing music and working together to continue to develop our musical skills, is what we have in common. In recent years some of our members have taken part in Bold as Brass and summer camps with the Cork School of Music.

Pat O’Driscoll is our Bandsmaster. Pat has been the backbone of the band for many years and his commitment to the band has played a central role in ensuring the band’s firm footing as we begin our next centenary. St. Fachtna’s Silver Band takes pride and pleasure in our service to the community as a marching band. Pat takes responsibility for teaching us the marching drill.

The band practices every Friday from 8pm through the year.  New members of all musical abilities and ages are always welcome.
