Carols in Town again

We were back the following weekend again in Skibbereen to play more Christmas music and our band music while people shopped. Was a mixed weather day of cold wintry showers but the craic was good.

Carols in Town

We were out and about after the lighting of Skibbereen Christmas lights the previous evening to play some tunes while people shopped. Weather was nice but you could feel the cold winter creeping in.

A blast from the past

Courtesy of John Dwyer, a previous band member, who forwarded on two old photographs from the band's history. Its great to see these photographs from days gone by.

In the earlier image of the band in Killarney, the generous benefactor of the time - T.T. Mc Carthy, is photographed with the band.On the right of the middle row stands Joe O'Sullivan, who subsequently joined the band as clarinet player. The youngest member in the front row right, playing cymbals, is of course Frankie Fahy. Fr Tim O'Donovan provided spiritual guidance

Other great supporters, who travelled with the band to Killarney, include: Denis & Chris O'Driscoll,JJ Daly (Wine Vaults & Hillside), Neilly Cadegon, Denis Davis, John O'Connor.

The second photo, taken on 17th March 1963.

We had another lovely visit to Skibbereen Retirement Village on Saturday 4th September. The weather held for us and we did another afternoon recital for the residents there. Good to see you all again.

Skibbereen Farmers Market, July 24th

It was a lovely day to be out in the busy Farmer's market in Skibbereen. We tried some new pieces which went down well with the passing audience. Look forward to being back again soon.
