Celebration of the Skibbereen Food Festival and our Musical Director 2017

Celebrating the final day of the Skibbereen Food Festival 2017 in Skibbereen and one of the first outings for our new musical director Mick Long.
A great day was had by all, enjoying the ambiance and local cuisine. The event was a huge success and well attended by the townspeople and visitors alike.
We hope to see you all again next year.

                                                   Food Festival Launch 2017

To Celebrate the launch of the Skibbereen Food Festival Programme the members of St Fachtna's Silver Band held a performance outside Kalbos in the Skibbereen Art Centre.

The weather was fabulous on the day and we delivered an hour of fantastic music complementing the food to the attendees and passing public.

Clonakilty Band Championship 2017

Both Junior and Senior Bands represented us well in the Clonakilty Band Championships this year (2017). Their programme was as follows:

Senior Band - Power of Love, South Rampart Street Parade, Blaze Away and Amazing Grace

Junior Band - Prelude and March by Stuart Johnson, The Lion King and Mairseal

This is the second time we have been able to enter 2 bands in the competition. A great achievement by us all.

Christmas Concert at Abbeystrewery Church

The senior and junior band combined to give a wonderful sound at their recent Christmas concert at Abbeystrewery Church. The band took the audience for a round the world trip with a broad selection of music..

South of Ireland Band Championships

It was wonderful to hear St.Fachtna's Silver Band open the intermediate section of the competition early on Saturday morning ,4th of July, with their selection:

The overall comment from the adjudicator:

" A very well drilled band, with a real balance in the programme"

St.Fachtna's Silver band had every reason to be proud of themselves, as the other 12 bands in the intermediate section were stiff competition.

As every year, it was a great day out for everyone, with lunch at the Imperial Hotel and an inspiring show of music delivered by the senior bands in the afternoon.
